BMI calculator

Calculate your body mass index (BMI) and see which CDC adult weight category it falls in.

Informational only. This calculator gives an estimate from a published formula. It is not medical advice and cannot account for your health history. Everything runs in your browser; nothing you enter is sent or stored.

How this is calculated

BMI = weight (kg) ÷ height (m)². Adult categories follow the CDC: under 18.5 underweight; 18.5 to 24.9 healthy weight; 25 to 29.9 overweight; 30 or more obesity.

BMI is a screening tool, not a diagnosis. It does not measure body fat directly and does not apply to children, teens or pregnant people.
